Gunstock Mountain Resort, Gilford - On Memorial Day Weekend, Gunstock will open the newest attraction in the Lakes Region. The Aerial Treetops Adventures course will include 8 different courses through an area the size of 4 by 2 football fields. There will be 92 different "challenges" and include multiple zip lines. This will all be constructed within the natural environment of Gunstock Mountain Resort. The 8 courses will be broken down as follows: 1 kids course, 2 demo courses and 5 levels of adult courses(green, blue, silver, red and black). One of the zip lines on one course will be the length of a football field. "Gunstock's Aerial Treetop Adventures course will give the entire family something to do." says Greg Goddard, General Manager of Gunstock Mountain Resort. "There are only 2 of these types of courses on the east coast and we will have the only one in New England" Construction begins the first week in March. Winni Fishing Derby, Lake Winnipesaukee - The Lakes Region Inland Fishing Association welcomes new partner - the Laconia Rotary Club. The 29th Annual Winni Derby will be held on May 13-15th, 2011 on Lake Winnipesaukee. The event was canceled last May 2010. There will be some changes coming from Fish and Game that will enhance the fishing, but these will take time as they have to go through the legislative process after January 2011. www.winniderby.com

Her Prerogative, Meredith - Her Prerogative has introduced ‘From Soldier To Soldier’, an awareness and fundraising campaign in support of wounded veterans and their families. The campaign is based on the sales of a designer version of the survival and friendship bracelets worn by many U.S. and allied soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. For every bracelet sold in Meredith, $25 will be donated to Homes For Our Troops and other organizations supporting returning wounded veterans and their families. Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm, Tamworth – Lots going on at the farm. The Farm Crew has redesigned the Foodways Garden and plans are in place for a Kitchen Herb Garden a new greenhouse has been built so the farm can use it’s own produce in all meals. The museum has had a facelift, which includes new wallpaper, floors refinished, paint… The Doctor and Marion’s apartment now has a beautiful new look. The museum kitchen has been upgraded and enlarged and there are lots of new things on display at the museum. Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, Holderness – The Science Center has made upgrades to it’s main Gephart Exhibit Trail to enable access for the elderly and physically challenged who have difficulty walking. The trail has an ADA Recreation standard grade of 1 in 12 with difficult spots due to loose gravel. They also now have available for reservation, four-wheeled motorized scooters (Rascal); non-motorized wheelchairs and wireless assistive listening systems on site to help serve hearing impaired visitors. www.nhnature.org

Loon Mountain Resort, Lincoln – The mountain has had $1.8 million in upgrades for the current ski season and a new river crossing zip line that allows riders to soar more than 700 feet across the river and then fly back on a separate line that lands at their Adventure Center. www.loonmtn.com

Cannon Mountain, Franconia Notch - The new Mittersill double chairlift integrates the Cannon Mountain ski area and Mittersill, the historic New Hampshire ski area adjacent to Cannon that had been closed since the 1980s. State and federal officials in 2009 signed an agreement for a land exchange that transferred ownership of Mittersill to the state, facilitating a $4 million expansion of the Cannon Ski Area into Mittersill's terrain. Mittersill is believed to be the earliest ski area in the country to incorporate a "ski village" within a ski area, and homeowners there have been shuttling next door to ski at Cannon since Mittersill's closure. www.cannonmt.com

McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, Concord - The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in conjunction with the Contoocook Valley Radio Club (CVRC) and the New England Amateur Radio Festival (NEAR-Fest) has completed production of an amateur radio station with full operational capabilities. This station, KA1SKY, will be called the Mumley-Rust Memorial Station. The new fully functional HF/VHF/UHF/Satellite amateur station will enable visitors at the Discovery Center to understand and use a part of the electromagnetic spectrum. The radio will allow voice transmission and Morse code on thousands of frequencies of various wavelengths. With the guidance of volunteer amateur radio operators, visitors will be able to talk to other “Hams” around the world as well as contact the International Space Station when it is in a favorable position. Communication with satellites in space will also be possible in order to receive and make transmissions to other parts of the world. Use of the station will also demonstrate how energy and information is transmitted on electromagnetic waves in the radio end of the electromagnetic spectrum, making it an essential tool for enhancing Discovery Center educational programs. www.starhop.com
